These bunny cupcakes were a hit at work today. I used the star tip for most of the bunny. To make black frosting, I used chocolate store icing and added black gel food coloring. The nose and inside of the ears I used “no taste” red food coloring gel on buttercream icing. These are such an odd size I just small plastic coated paper plates and once iced I cut the edges off and rounded the corners. From my family to yours best wishes for a Happy Easter!
Tonight I am working on suckers to pass out to my friends at work. The molds are from Michaels and they are made with candy melts. You can microwave the wafers or chocolate melting pot. Make sure to tap the candy mold to get out all of the bubbles. Pop them into the freezer for 10 minutes and they are ready.
This little bunny is ready for the road. I used a real egg but you can also do this with a plastic egg. The wheels are buttons with foam stickers over the holes. To make the seat I built up the bottom and placed one button on the bottom and the back of the seat was another button. Add some headlights and racing stripes and he is ready for the road.
This un-traditional Easter Bonnet I put together for less than $5.00 dollars. The straw cowboy hat I found at Walmart for under $4.00, add some spring time flowers and a bunny and you have a great bonnet for any cowgirl.
Easter is just a hop skip and jump away. It’s time to start making cupcakes. If you don’t have a bunny or egg mold you can use a mini loaf pan and cut them into the right shape. For the whiskers I used chocolate covered pretzels, Mini MM for the eyes and piped in the rest. The eggs were decorated with all type of Easter sprinkles you can find at Michael’s, JoAnn’s or your local craft stores.

Three years ago my daughter bought me an ostrich egg as a challenge to see what I could do with it. Shortly after my husband had a bad fall down the stairs and we decided we needed to find some place that was flat. So the ostrich egg was packed away for the move. When we unpacked I couldn’t find it and gave up that it had been discarded during the move. At Christmas we were going through some old ornaments and found the egg. The shell was so tough my husband went through two diamond bits cuting the shell. I bought a couple of different bunnies until I found one that fit. The base I found at Hobby Lobby in the floral section. The rest was just hot glue, flowers, and gems.
I used the stand up bunny and egg mold to help decorate the table last Easter. Add some jelly beans and bunny candy melt bunnies and suckers are you are ready for your get together. We also had bunny suckers and baskets full of jelly beans to decorate the table.
For all of the people born on St Patrick’s Day – if a party isn’t enough, how about a little cake to go with the green beer?
This cute little lamb was made from a pan I purchased at Michaels. The pan comes in two pieces that you cook on the side and tie the two pieces together. I decorated the base with some grass made with buttercream. The bunnies and eggs are made with candy melts and a mold I purchased at kitchenKraft.com
After making the egg from the kit my husband gave me for Valentine’s day I decided I could make one. How hard could that be. The parts that built the stand and top pieces I couldn’t find so I decided to build my own design. For the base you need a heavy base and I found a belt buckle and started to build up using a head pin and gluing each piece to the next until I had a sturdy base. For the inside of the egg, I put some pink feathers and the little glass bunny. I hot glued the gems around the opening. For the top piece I used a head pin to build the top and glued to the top of the egg. The egg wasn’t completely straight but my granddaughter loved it.
There is nothing better than spending an afternoon with my granddaughter making cupcakes. At six years old she is quite the authority on how she wants them to look. We made a batch of woopie pie cakes using a white cake mix, one tablespoon of rum extract and some green food coloring. We started out making shamrock cupcakes but when she saw the eyes, well as you can see we changed to monster faces.
Surprise your guest with some Shamrock Cupcakes. The shamrocks are made with the same mold as the suckers. Add a little Irish Cream extract to your icing and inject into the cupcake for a special surprise.
