With St. Patrick Day right around the corner and time to get started making your shamrock suckers.  These are great to give your to family, friends, co-workers or class room parties.  The molds can be found at most craft stores.  Use candy melts to fill the molds.  If you haven’t worked with these before they are easy to melt in the microwave or if you have a chocolate melting pot.  Make sure to tap the mold to make sure that all the bubbles are out then pop them in the freezer for 10 minutes.

Making a Phoenix Egg

Phoenix Egg

This phoenix is hatching out of the fire.  The egg was painted with red finger nail polish to give the egg strenght.  After the first coat paint the second coat with red crackle finger nail polish.  Cut a hole for the phoenix and hot glue him in the egg.  I used a small piece of cardboard to hot glue rocks to form a ring then hot glued the egg to the rocks.  For the flames use red and yellow clear plastic wrap hot glued to the rocks.  The phoenix I purchased at Michaels.

Bunny Candy Box

2010 pictures etc 543

These little bunny boxes are made with Candy Melts.  These candy box molds I purchased at KitchenKraft.com.  The first time I brought a heart candy box to work and to my surprise I received an order to 20 heart boxes.  One of the issues I had with these was getting the little bubbles out.  I had looked at the vibrating tables for candy making but it was not in my budget.  So I started make the candy boxes with only one mold, it was slow going.  When I came home from work the next day I was surprised when I saw three candy boxes that were perfect and the back of the box was perfectly smooth.  My husband was all smiles and showed me his invention.  He took an old paint can shaker, mounted a wood tray on the top, put one of the candy molds on top and turned it on.  To my surprise it works!  The bubbles came up pop, pop, pop and the back was perfectly smooth.  There was one small draw back with his machine.  The noise was loud, the cats hid under the bed and the dog went nuts running around barking.  Our pets had grown use to the noise and hide when ever I start making candy.

If you don’t have a vibra

Glass Painting

Glass Painting

Do you want to give a gift or throw a party and add personal touch that won’t break the bank?  I found the salt shakers and martini glass at the dollar store.  The paints shown are made for glass.  In the past the salt shakers are a great little gift for Mother’s Day or someone who has just moved out on their own.  You can paint on their name, i.e., Kelly Kitchen then decorate with flowers of whatever design you like.  The Martini glasses are fun for parties.  Instead of wine glass charms paint their name on the glass and let them take them home.

EASTER FLYER 2012 548

With Easter just around the corner, it is time to check out my molds.  This 3D bunny and egg mold I purchased from KitchenKraft.com.  After you have put the chocolate in the mold and tapped the side to make sure there are no air bubbles, freeze for 10 minutes.  When you take the bunny out of the mold start at the ears first and slowly work your way down to the toes.  You can mix and match all types of color.

Make your own hair pins and barrettes

hair bows

This activity is great for a teen slumber party.  When my daughter was in high school we had a pre-Prom slumber party.  All of the girls brought over their dresses and accessories.  They practiced with hair arrangements and make up.  I bought some books on hair styles and all type of accessories for their hair.  With a little hot glue, sequins and bling they can make their own barrettes and bobbie pins.  They had a lot of fun and the next week they were beautiful getting ready to go to their first big dance.
